Get to Know Us!
Thank you so much for your interest in Aiming High Homeschool Co-op!
Who are we? This coop began classes in the 2021-22 school-year with around 15 families and 50 kids. For the school year 2022-23, we grew to 34 families and over 100 children! We can't wait to see who God brings to Aiming High for the 2023-2024 school year! This year, we're meeting at the Williamsburg Community Chapel, with plenty of space to keep growing and meeting the needs of homeschooling families. We are so grateful that we can fulfill a need in Williamsburg for Christian homeschooling families to come together to share education and life. There was a lot of prayer put into this group to get it started and all the decisions along the way. We are honored that you are interested in Aiming High for your upcoming school year. The Lord is doing mighty things. We love to see Him work in hearts each week.
When and where do we meet? We meet at Williamsburg Community Chapel on Monday's (except holiday's) from 10am to 1:30 pm with an optional lunch on premises from 1:30-2:30pm.
How does membership work? We have an annual per family fee to join. Our members help the co-op run and stay organized by volunteering in a variety of capacities.
Members of our community are long-time residents and new residents. They attend a variety of churches around the area. Some are new to their faith and some have followed Jesus for a long time. We are all different and we are not perfect. But the core remains the same: families who love Jesus, want to see others come to Christ, and are learning to be more Christ-like every day. Sharing in the journey of schooling our kids.
What type of homeschool co-op is Aiming High? Aiming High is a traditional co-op, meaning that Moms (or Dads, or whoever brings the kids each week) volunteer two hours and attend support group a third hour. Some moms do not enjoy teaching, so there are a few spots such as nursery, preschool, support group, classroom assistant, yearbook staff, or floater (substitute). We want our Families to be comfortable and enjoy attending every week! But we also want you to stretch and grow. So if God has given you a passion for something (sewing, math, geography, anything!), then please consider suggesting that as a class you can teach.
What does each Monday look like? A greeter will welcome you between 9:45 and 10:00 at the West 1 entrance of Williamsburg Community Chapel. We will begin our day all together in a worship room at 10:00am with devotion, prayer, and announcements. Students and teachers are then dismissed in an orderly fashion to help get everyone where they need to go. WCC is a large campus and we will have helpers available throughout the day to make sure everyone is where they need to be. Safety is a key priority for us, our students, and the church.
The 5th grade and above have a list of classes from which to choose. This website will continually be updated with the class choices as families register and commit to a subject to teach.
At the final bell of the day, everyone (except Nursery) returns to the Sanctuary to wait for their parents for a peaceful dismissal. Moms will need to pick up ages 0-2 at the Nursery. We then have the option to stay outside for lunch after dismissal at 1:30 pm. The kids usually like to stay and play for a couple of hours. We highly encourage families to stay after co-op for hangout time!
What about the High School Credit Classes? As with all our classes, availability is based on our members and what classes/grade levels they volunteer to teach.
When Do We Register? How do I get more info? Registration is closed for the 2023-2024 schoolyear. The Member Registration (as well as the Class Registration) is done on this site. There will be a non-refundable annual membership fee. Some classes (like lab sciences and culinary classes) have a marginal additional fee. If you are still interested in classes once registration has closed, please email us at [email protected] and an administrator will follow up with you to determine if availability remains for your child(rens) ages.
